Saugus Wings host 2016 East Cobb New England Invitational

Saugus Wings will host a regional pool in the 2016 East Cobb New England Invitational
at World Series Park this weekend.
World Series will see some of the best 19u teams in New England and New York.
There will be 9 games played at World Series Park featuring the Saugus Wings in 3 of them.
The Wings play at 3:15 pm on Friday, 8:30 am and 5:30 pm on Saturday at WSP.

Other pool hosts include Salem State University and Lynnfield High School.
There are 20 teams fighting for the top 6 spots to make the playoff round on Sunday afternoon.

The Saugus Wings return most of their team from their highly successful season last year.
The pitching staff includes Kyle Autilio, Saugus High’s ace who is headed to Assumption
in the fall on a baseball scholarship, Freddy Burns, the commonwealth conference MVP
for Northeast Regional, Lawrence Falter, former GBL conference MVP, Ryan Roche,
John Prentice, Jack Furey, Jaycub Lever, Joe O’Brien, Alex Merlina, Joe Prince,
Steve DiBlasi, and Bobby Roberto.
The catching position is very strong for Saugus.  It includes one of the best catchers in
eastern Mass, John Prentice, Victor DeMatteo, Dawson Gaudet, and Kyle Zabroski.

The infield includes two players playing hockey and basketball in college.  Anthony Cieri,
headed to Curry on a hockey scholarship will be playing third base.  Joe O’Brien, a point
guard for Lasell, will see time at all four infield spots as well as the outfield.
Christopher Mitchell will be playing second, Lever and Prentice will hold down the
shortstop position.  Autilio, Pat Murray, Alex Merlina, and Mike Molina will be playing first.
Bobby Roberto and Justin DiChiara will be playing at third and short.  The outfield will
have Pedro Del Toro, Joe Prince, Ty Serino, Jack Doherty, Pat Cross, Gui Groscos,
Furey, Roche, Murray, and DeMatteo.  Dave Harris played all 9 positions last year so he
gives the Wings plenty of flexibility in a super utility role.

The Wings Schedule this summer includes tournaments in Portland, Maine
and Myrtle Beach, SC over the week of July 4th.

Special thanks to Bob Davis for all of his hard work making World Series Park
one of the best baseball fields in New England.

In 2005, Saugus residents recycled more than 3.5 million pounds
of material.

By doing this, Saugus saved the equivalent of 345,700 gallons of gasoline,

25,500 trees, and recycled enough plastic bottles to make 6,300 fleece jackets.
