First Congregational Church Welcomes Masons
February 2011
The First Congregational Church, located in Saugus Center
at the corner of Hamilton and Central Streets, is pleased to
welcome William Sutton Masonic Lodge as its tenant.

When the Lodge decided to sell its Masonic Hall on Adams Avenue,
it needed a place to hold its meetings and functions.  They learned
that the upstairs of the old part of the Church was available and
inquired about renting it.  The Church felt that this would be a good,
very amicable relationship, and agreed to a long term arrangement.

The Lodge has done extensive renovations to the upstairs and the
stairways leading to it.  A beautiful chapter room has been created.
The Church is very excited and pleased because the old church has
been restored to have a similar look to what it had many years ago.
A spirit of cooperation and mutual support has been formed.
This union of Church and Lodge holds much promise for the future.

astrodometurf.jpgThe world's largest zipper zipped the artificial turf together in the Houston Astrodome.
The turf came in strips 200 feet long & 14 feet wide, bristling with blades 3/8 of an inch high.
Each strip was backed with a thin layer of vinyl foam and weighed about 3,000 pounds.
The strips were cut to size and held together with zippers.
As Milner said, "It was the longest infield fly in the world."
