Melrose Humane Society is reaching out to the Saugus community. We use the services of Saugus Veterinarian Dr. Duca, and are a sister town,
so would like to make the community aware of the group. We are a very well respected rescue organization and
would like to get our rescued cats into nice homes.
We sponsor several fundraising events to be sure we always are able to care for our cats.
Melrose Humane Society is comprised of a small group of concerned individuals who
take in sick, abandoned, injured and unwanted animals. We currently care for cats
that we take into our own homes, get them medically treated - vaccines, spay/neuter,
testing for Felv/Fiv, or emergency medical care, and hold them until they are ready to
be adopted. We have no foster homes for dogs, but we do assist animal control officers
in local cities and towns with medical care, boarding and placement.
All our cats and kittens are spayed/neutered before going to 'forever' homes.
We do not euthanize animals - we work with them and care for them until 'forever' homes
are found. We do have some cats that will NEVER be adoptable because of serious health
problems, disposition, etc., but we have a Special Sponsor – Guardian Angel Fundto
care for those animals on a long term basis in our homes as Melrose Humane cats.
We have a Sponsor a Spay Fund for cats that come in with kittens -
to be sure they never add to the overpopulation problem again.
