June 1, 2016

Due to mitigating circumstances, it is with a heavy heart and regret that

the Saugus Military Families, Inc., has voted to dissolve the organization.

At this time, we wish to extend our appreciation to all our members, as well
as to all of the very generous business organizations, donors and citizens
that participated in our many activities.  Without your assistance we would
not have been able to fulfill our mission of supporting local troops and their
families in such an effective and successful way.

It is our hope that remaining members, as well as all Saugus residents, will
continue to support our military men and women by participating in the many
activities of the Saugus Veteran’s Council, specifically the Auxiliary, who
have assured us that they will continue with our mission to show appreciation,
support, comfort and honor to all those who serve.  In anticipation that care
packages to our troops will continue, all remaining donation items will be
transferred to the Auxiliary for future mailings.

Once again, please accept our sincere appreciation and gratitude to all who
have supported us in our efforts.  It has been an honor and pleasure to be able
to embody the Patriotism of the citizens of Saugus in a small and humbling way.

God Bless our Troops.

Sincerely,

SAUGUS MILITARY FAMILIES, INC.
Board of Directors

Thank you for your contributions!

astrodometurf.jpgThe world's largest zipper zipped the artificial turf together in the Houston Astrodome.
The turf came in strips 200 feet long & 14 feet wide, bristling with blades 3/8 of an inch high.
Each strip was backed with a thin layer of vinyl foam and weighed about 3,000 pounds.
The strips were cut to size and held together with zippers.
As Milner said, "It was the longest infield fly in the world."
