or the Department of Public Works for deceased animals.

Dog Adoptions

Feel free to visit the K-9 building behind the DPW building
on Main Street
to check to see if there are any dogs available for adoption. 

If the canine officer is not available, leave a note for him
with your name & phone number and the dog you're interested in.

Please license your dog yearly by April 30th

All Licenses expire end of March.
REMINDER: Please license your dog by July 1, 2018.
Starting on this date, a $20.00 late fee will apply on top of the cost of the license.

All dogs must be licensed after first Rabies Shot and within 1 year of age;
and yearly thereafter through the Town Clerk’s Office.

Rabies Certification is required and must be shown
to the Town Clerks Office to obtain the License.

The Saugus Canine Officer and the Saugus
Board of Health
would like to remind dog and
cat owners of their legal obligation
to have
their pets vaccinated against rabies.
 
There is a $50.00 fine for not vaccinating your pet against rabies

 The Town of Saugus has a Leash Law
507.03 Restraint of Dogs

No person shall own, keep or harbor in the Town of Saugus, 
outside the confines of the
owner's property, any dog which is not held 
firmly on a leash by a person who shall have control of such a dog.

All dogs must be restrained on a leash of not more than 6 feet.

There is a civil penalty of $25.00 for the first offense,
$50.00 for the second offense,
and $50.00 for each offense after the first
if within a year of the last fine issued.



The Barking Dog Law and the Pooper Scooper Law
also have a fine schedule the same as the leash law offense.
