Joint Installation Held
With over one hundred family, friends and comrades in attendance at the
CPL Scott J. Procopio Post 210, the Saugus American Legion & Auxiliary
held a joint installation recently.
District Commander David Comeau performed the ritual with Sgt-at-Arms,
William Bell assisting. Incoming officers for 2008-2009 are:
Commander: George Moriello
Sr. Vice: Arthur Cummings
Jr. Vice: Richard Milligan
Finance Officer: Stephen Castinetti
Chaplain: Fred Arsenault
Adjutant: Frank Manning
Graves Officer: Randy Briand
Judge Advocate: Peter Bogdan
Service Officer: James Tanner
Americanism: Robert O'Toole
Sgt-at-Arms: Gerrit Thomas
Executive Board: Fred Judge, Lawrence Locicero, Richard Milligan,
and James Nicholl Jr.
District Commander David Comeau presented George L. White Community
Service Achievement Award to Commander Moriello. Other awards given to
Post 210 members were: George Moeiello and Arthure Cummings for
achieving a 100% membership for two consecutive years, the Department of
Massachusetts award for first place in attaining a 105% membership for
2007-2008, and Cpt. Stephen Castinetti (Ret) US Navy received the Grateful
Appreciation Medal. Sr. Vice Commander Bruce Hiesey presented Arthur
Cummings a citation for achieving a 100% membership.
James Nicholl Jr. and Auxiliary President Margaret Flanagan received
citation greetings from the House of Representatives for dedicated service
to the American Legion & Auxiliary respectively from Representative
Mark Falzone, presented by Vincent Falzone.
District President Linda Ward, assisted by Sgt-at-Arms Beverly Whenal,
had the pleasure of installing the incoming officers of the Ladies Auxiliary.

Jr. Vice President: Angela Maraia
Secretary / Treasurer: Shirley Bogdan
Chaplain: Eleanor Gallo
Sgt-at-Arms: Retah Moynihan
Citations for the many hours of volunteer work, especially at the Chelsea
Soldiers Home, were presented by Commander Moriello to the following
ladies: Margaret Flanagan, Shirley Bogdan, Dottie Bockus, Eleanor Gallo,
Mary Morris, Marie Poitras, Ruth Young, Retah Moynihan, Marie Marshall,
and Rosemarie Tenaglia.
Commander Moriello presented Margaret Flanagan and Shirley Bogdan with
citizenship medals for their outstanding work in the community.
Commander George Moriello, in his opening remarks, acknowledged the
many Legion comrades in attendance, Town Manager Andrew Basignani,
VFW Post 2346 members, Vietnam Veterans of Lynn, Sons of the American
Legion, members of the Board of Selectmen, District 8 comrades and
especially his wife Joan and members of his family.
A collation followed the installation ceremony.
