World SeriesParkBuilding Starting to Take Shape Construction is moving along on the World Series Park Memorial Building. The foundation, in-ground plumbing and slab floor are complete. The block walls and
door frames are currently being constructed by Lenny Fauci. This phase of the project
will take several weeks.Framing of the roof and second story will follow.Bob Davis
said “We very much appreciate local craftsmen who give their time and expertise to
help us in our projects.
We’re close to our fundraising goal thanks to the generosity of a lot of people. With
funds received and those pledged we feel comfortable moving ahead with the project. Hopefully it won’t get too cold and we’ll be able to get a lot done before winter sets in.” More funds are needed and there’s still the opportunity to be involved in this project. The World Series Park Building Fund is the recipient of people whowant to honor a
loved one or merely to be part of a worthwhile project. The GE Matching Gifts Program
is a great way to contribute since it’s a “double-donation.”To have your name or name
of a loved one memorialized on the permanent building plaque, a minimum donation of
$100 is requested.Such donations are tax deductible.
The World Series Park Building will be two-stories and is located behind the back-stop.
It will house a concession stand, handicapped restrooms, an equipment storage area
and a scoring/announce area. This will help to complete the park, providing some
necessary services to all who attend games.World Series Park hosts lots of baseball. 150 games were played in the 2008 season. The goal of World Series Park continues
to be to provide more opportunity to play baseball in Saugus. Donations to the World Series Park Building Fund should be sent to: WorldSeriesPark, 8 Holden Ave.Saugus, MA01906. Checks should be made payable to World Series Park. For any questions please contact Bob Davis at 781-233-4555
GE Employees Could Make A Difference for theWorld Series Park Building Fund A long time Saugus resident who’s a General Electric retiree has inquired about making a generous donation to the World Series Park Building Fund. She plans to
do so through the GE Matching Gifts Program. This program for current GE
employees, GE retirees and spouses of deceased retirees allows for GE to match
donations to non-profit 501(c)(3) charities.World Series Park qualifies as one
such non-profit organization.
More funds are needed and there’s still the opportunity to be involved in this
project.Bob Davis of WSP said “The GE Matching Gifts Program is a plus for us
since it’s essentially a double-donation.We encourage GE people to help us out.
Some of the construction crew members are: Leonard Tripp, Al Walkey, and Russell Tripp.
Construction will continue through the fall and early winter.
A dedication ceremony will be held when the construction of the building is completed.
Because of the success of the projects to build our TotPark and to plant trees, the
construction of this building will be funded by public donations.World Series Park is
a publicly supported facility, so it seems appropriate to build a memorial building to
honor individuals, businesses and organizations that are willing to offer their support
to provide a place to play baseball in Saugus. For a minimum donation of $100.00,
donors will have the opportunity to have their name, the name of a loved one, or the
name of their business memorialized on a permanent plaque on the building.
More donations are needed.Workmanship to construct the building has been generously pledged.World Series Park expresses its appreciation to all who have donated or pledged to help with this project.
