Play-off Week 

Kane's Donuts won the Saugus Women's Over Thirty Softball championship last Wednesday
by defeating LA Cleaning 5- 4.  The donut makers were victorious after being down 3-0 in the
first inning.  LA pitching allowed four walks in the 4th inning setting up the comeback. 
Kane's outfielders Jenn Woodland, Amy Dunn and Jill Sewell were outstanding in keeping the
game close. Then Kane's went ahead for good in the bottom of the 6th on a Penny Virgin single
bringing Jill Sewell home to score the winning run. 

Congrats to Kane's and to all the SWOT teams on the great 2009 season!

LA Cleaning clinched a playoff spot and defeated ACS Development
in extra innings 7 - 6 in SWOT action last week.  Christine Hofman
clubbed a triple to drive in 2 runs in the top of the 8th inning. 
Sue Rothowski had 3 RBI in the win. 
LA faces Kowloon for their first visit to the SWOT playoffs
beginning this week. 

Also, Law Office of Tracy Conlon defeated ACS Development 15-10 
later in the week to sneak into the last playoff spot.  They will face
League Champs Kane's Donuts who finished the season 11-1.

Week Ten

The Saugus Women's Softball game of the week went
to ACS Development who defeated second place
Kowloon by a score of 3-2. 

In other action Kane's Donuts remained strong defeating
Kowloon 9-2 and LA Cleaning 5-0. Against Kowloon,
Kane's Jenn Woodland showed her offensive power
smacking a triple to drive in 3 runs in the third inning on
her way to a 4 rbi game. Kane's pitcher Lisa Lucas
continues to dominate notching 11 strikeouts over the
two games. Kane's and Kowloon have now clinched first
and second place respectively going into playoff action
which begins August 17 at Waybright School Field at 6pm.

Week Nine

Team Kowloon dominated SWOT action last week notching
victories against Law Office of Tracy Conlon 13-1 and 
ACS Development 20-4.  LOTC fell behind 9-0 in the first 
inning and couldn't recover.  Against ACS,  Kowloon
offensively again with Karen Staskawicz belting
2 home
runs for a total of 5 RBI.  In other action, Kane's Donuts
showed both defensive and hitting power in their 16-0 win
against LA Cleaning.  Kane's pitcher
Lisa Lucas hurled her
second 1-hitter of the season and walked none. 
Kane's looked good at the plate with 17 hits. 

Kane's remains in first at 9-1 and Kowloon is second at 8-2. 

Week Eight

In Saugus Women's Softball action last week Kane's Donuts 
continued their dominance with wins over Law Office of 
Tracy Conlon 17-2 and ACS Development 11-9.  Against
LOTC, Kane's pounded out 23 hits with Jill Sewell leading the
way going 4-4 and Chris Bonia, Cheryl LaMarca, and
Cheryl Chesna all going 3-4 at the plate.  Jill Sewell stayed
hot against ACS Development going 4-4 again and
Nancy Lightbody hit 4-4  as well.  Sunday's game
notched a
victory for Kowloon over LA Cleaning 7-2. Kowloon holds on
to second place
at 5-2 while Kane's remains in first 8-1.  

Week Seven

swotjuly12.jpgThere were lots of highlights for the Saugus Women's Softball League for the week of 7/19/09.  
The game of the week went to Law Office of Tracy Conlon v. LA Cleaning where Tracy Conlon
it a single to right field in the bottom of  the 7th inning to drive in Linda Ayala who scored the
winning run for a final score of 3-2. Tanya walked earlier in the
inning to set up the winning hit.  

In other action, Kane's Donuts improved  to 6-1 on the season
with victories over  Kowloon 8-0, and ACS Development 14-3.  
ACS Development fell short in picking up a  win after being edged 
                                             out by LA Cleaning  6-5 in a close game where the lead changed 
                                             hands several times.

Week Six

This past Sunday in Saugus Women's Softball Action at
Waybright Field, Law Office
of Tracy Conlon looked strong with
a 20-10 win over LA Cleaning to go to improve to 2-3 on the season,
while LA Cleaning slipped to 2-3 also.  Offense was the story in this
game for LOTC with Connie McGill, Linda Ayala,Colleen Fahey 
leading the way with mutiple hits.  Shelly Paglucca pitched a
complete game, keeping LA Cleaning at bay. 
In earlier action last Monday, LA Cleaning defeated ACS
Devlopment 7-4.

Week Five

In Saugus Women's Softball action last 
Kane's Donuts reclaimed 1st place by defeating
Kowloon 11-0.  Pitcher Lisa Lucas was outstanding,
striking out 11 batters and walking none on her way
to a one hitter.  Jenn Woodland, Karen Sudbey,
Cheryl LaMarca, and Cheryl Chesna all had 2 hits
for Kane's. It was Kowloon's 1st loss of the season. 
Look for this rivalry to continue. 

Other scheduled games this week were rained out. 
Games are played at 6:00 pm Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday evenings at Waybright School field.

Week Three

Due the inclement weather, the Saugus Women's Softball League was only able to play
one game last week. New to the league this year, LA Cleaning, upset undefeated
Kane's Donuts by a score of 7-4 for their first win of the season.  LA Cleaning's pitchers
combined for 9 strikeouts and the offense was buoyed by Susan Rutkowski going 3-3
with 2 doubles and a single.  With the score tied going into the 7th inning LA Cleaning
was able to drive in 3 runs for the win. Kowloon remains the only undefeated team,
followed by Kanes at 3-1, Law Office of Tracy Colon at 1-3, LA Cleaning at 1-2 and
ACS Development. 
SWOT (Saugus Women's Over 30 League) is still registering new players until July 6.

Week Two

The weather cooperated last week for the Saugus Women's Over 30 Softball League to get
two games in.  LA Cleaning, new to the league this year, was edged out of getting their first
win by a fast improving Kowloonteam who took the victory 6-5.  On Tuesday, Kane's Donuts
improved to 2-0 by defeating the Law Office of Tracy Conlon on a chilly, rain soaked field.
