Town of Wakefield Hosts
1st Annual Italian Festival
Saturday, August 14th
Members of the Wakefield Event Planning Committee,
in collaboration with Wakefield merchants
and members of the Wakefield Chamber of Commerce
will host the 1st Annual Wakefield Italian Festival
on Saturday August 14th, in downtown Wakefield.
The festival will feature free outdoor activities for all ages from 3:00 to 7:00 pm
followed by a $25.00 per person wine tasting event with dinner, dancing and
entertainment at the American Civic Center beginning at 7:00 pm
The 1st Annual Italian Festival will take place in the downtown areas of Main and Albion Streets and will be one of Wakefield's summer highlights. The streets will be filled with activity with many local restaurants setting up tents to serve food from their establishments and merchants offering specials as well as in-store refreshments. The Event Committee’s Roulette Wheel will be spinning during the 3:00 to 7:00 pm portion of the festival so many participants will walk away with donated prizes from local merchants. There will be music playing throughout the day - along with some great children's activities.
Portions of Main and Albion Streets will be closed to traffic from 3:00 to 7:00 pm for the outside events planned for the Italian Festival.
At 7:00 pm the activity will move to the American Civic Center on Main Street where guests can enjoy a wine tasting in the Heritage Room, dine on Italian specialties from local restaurants and be entertained throughout the evening by local high school students and a cabaret singer as well as music and dancing. Local winemakers will also be competing for the best of Wakefield.
Tickets to the event are limited and cost $25.00
Tickets can be purchased at Wakefield Daily Item on Albion Street, Holiday Travel on Main Street, Greenwood Wine & Spirits on Main Street, or Caporale Liquors on Broadway or by e-mail
