
2010 Special Olympics Day Takes On A New Look
The Fifth Annual Harry Agganis Special Olympics Day
& Saugus Special Needs Festival
will take place at Saugus High School July 14-18, 2010.
Fiesta Shows will provide amusement rides for this five-day event.
This event is being sponsored by Wheelabrator, whose general manager,
John O’Rourke recently presented a check for $5,000 to the event.
Special Olympics day will take place on Saturday, July 17th
The day begins at 9:00 am with a softball tournament
of Special Olympic teams from the area.
The parade of athletes and the opening ceremony will begin at 11:00 am.
Eddie Palladino, announcer for Boston Celtics games,
will be the master of ceremonies.
Former Olympic athletes will again take part in the Special Olympics Day festivities.
On Saturday, entertainment will be provided by the Senior Tones
featuring Howie “Satchmo” Conley,
The Uncle Steve Band, Amanda Rosa, Miranda Barnes,
the Forbes School of Irish Step Dancing,
Beat ConnXtionz Dance Company,
Bring It On Xtreme Cheer All-Stars, and others.
Randy Barnes will be the master of ceremonies on the entertainment stage.
This year funds raised during the five-day event will go to
the Saugus Public Schools Special Needs Students.
Pledges from businesses or individuals can be made prior to
that day with actual donations announced and posted at the event.
A tote board will be kept showing the current total throughout the event.
