ANIMAL ARTIFACTS AT THE BEACH

Wednesdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon

For All Ages


Meet at Pearce Lake Beach, by the kiosk.
Closest entrance to the beach is 100 Hemlock Rd., Wakefield,
behind the Northeast Metro Tech High School

What animals call these woods and waters home?
Drop in anytime to learn about some of our furry, feathered, scaly and slimy residents!
A different animal will be featured each week.

Rain cancels this program.

astrodometurf.jpgThe world's largest zipper zipped the artificial turf together in the Houston Astrodome. 
The turf came in strips 200 feet long & 14 feet wide, bristling with blades 3/8 of an inch high.
Each strip was backed with a thin layer of vinyl foam and weighed about 3,000 pounds.
The strips were cut to size and held together with zippers.
As Milner said, "It was the longest infield fly in the world."
